Mixed AGM wines including four French, three Aussies, three Germans, and one Turk
Our wine tasting club AuZone recent held its annual general meeting, and tradition dictates that some liquid painkillers and some blood sugar-boosting nutrition are administered before we move on to boring stuff like audit report, budget, membership fees and so … Continue reading

Spätburgunder from Kloster Eberbach – young wines and auction wines from the 2013 spring auction
While attending auction at Eberbach Abbey in March 2013 I also checked into the shop and tasted some Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) wines from Kloster Eberbach’s regular range. I’ve explained the buildup of their current range in the middle of this post. The “Cabinetkeller” (often seen … Continue reading

A white Rioja on Saint Vincent’s day
22 January is Saint Vincent’s Day, and this day is a sort of “the day of wine” in some countries and regions, in particular in France. The Vincent in question is Saint Vincent of Saragossa, an early Christian martyr gathered unto … Continue reading

2011 spring auction in Eberbach Abbey and the Riesling wines of that auction
A report on an auction in late February 2011 may not seem the most natural blog post in January 2014. I actually wrote this in April 2011, but only posted it on the Swedish version of my blog, and never got … Continue reading

Tasting and dinner with old wines at Eberbach Abbey, including a 1943 Riesling and a 1953 Spätburgunder
As a part of the “Riesling year” on my blog, I’ve pulled out some tasting notes that have been maturing since March 2013, when I attended a tasting and dinner with several old wines in Kloster Eberbach/Eberbach Abbey in Rheingau. … Continue reading

Champagne BYO of which more than half from Savart and Ulysse Collin
The second-to-last Champagne-BYO of the previous year took place between Christmas and the New Year, on invitation from G. Champagne is a common theme when those who are active at the Swedish forum finewines.se (a warning before you click: it’s in Swedish…) … Continue reading

Using his Twitter account, leading wine critic Robert M. Parker, Jr. recently shared 15 wine-related predictions for 2014. He’re a sort of re-tweet, but edited together to one post and with some copyediting. I’ve commented some of them of my own in italics. … Continue reading
