Madeira from Barbeito
At the Portuguese wine day in Stockholm about a month ago, a single Madeira producer was present, namely Vinhos Barbeito. This is a high-class producer, and their wines are elegant i style as well as slightly lower in sweetness than other … Continue reading

Taylor’s Port, vintages from 1863 to 2011
Taylor’s is one of the most known and best Port wine houses, in particular when it comes to Vintage Port. Their style is on the powerful and spicy side, often with rather prominent tannins when the wines are young, and they … Continue reading

Tasting of mixed new releases with a few heavy-duty Super Tuscans included

Mixed wines including some five Rhônes and two traditional Riojas
Last week a major wine tasting club in town, Munskänkarna, arranged a tasting of various wines, having that in common that they were new arrivals at our “dear” monopoly. Many were new vintages of old classics, rather than brand new … Continue reading

Fine wine BYO with some interesting coincidences
Earlier this summer there was again a fine wine-oriented BYO pulled together via a forum called finewines.se. As usual some truly high-class wines, but unlike some of the earlier editions, Champagne made up less than half the wines, and there … Continue reading

Taylor’s Port
Taylor’s – or Taylor Fladgate which is what the logotype on their labels actually says – is one of the most notable Port companies. Taylor’s counts as one of the best, and their style is characterised by good concentration and wines … Continue reading
